Curious Plant Stories from Canada - Volume 4

$44.95

In this fourth volume, primarily dedicated to Quebec, the authors present 34 stories highlighting individuals and educational and research institutions that, between 1867 and 1935, were concerned with plants for their agricultural, food, ornamental, medicinal, forestry or scientific value.

Like other women, the first career scientist at a Canadian university contributed to the evolution of knowledge about plants. As for the "second founder" of the credit unions, he oversaw the development of the beekeeping industry and maple products. In 1935, Brother Marie-Victorin's Laurentian Flora resulted from investigations, sometimes surprising, into our geographical and botanical heritage. For example, during the First World War, prisoners of war cleared land near Amos for an experimental farm intended for the agronomic evaluation of plants.
