The objectives of this manual are to introduce the world of bees, to understand how they function and to share good beekeeping practices.
Alain Péricard has developed a small apiary (35-40 hives) whose management is respected by his peers. He generously shares the fruits of his experience and knowledge to support anyone wishing to begin or improve their beekeeping skills. This new edition presents the latest advances in theoretical and technical knowledge and will teach you:
- the basics of bee biology and its interactions with the environment;
- the resources needed to install your beehives and choose your site wisely;
- the essential equipment and tools to accomplish the various tasks throughout the beekeeping season;
- how to identify, prevent and protect your beehives from diseases, parasites and predators, and how to maintain healthy colonies;
- the specific techniques for interventions concerning the queen and genetic selection;
- how to extract, use and process honey and other bee products;
- how to promote vigorous colonies at the end of the critical overwintering period.
Framing his approach within the necessary reconfiguration of our relationship with nature, the author further explains all that interacting with bees brings us, both collectively and individually, including their importance for the environment, food, and health, as well as our simple pleasure. Richly illustrated and written by an experienced beekeeper, this book has established itself since its first edition as an essential reference in ecological beekeeping in the French-speaking world.

A guide to identifying, preventing and ecologically controlling pests and diseases of vegetables.
The era of indiscriminately using chemical treatments in our vegetable gardens is over. Gardeners, more aware of the importance of maintaining the ecosystem, are seeking more ecological ways to minimize damage caused by pests and diseases.
Good air circulation accounts for 80% of successful sowing, particularly by preventing damping-off. Therefore, purchasing a fan isn't really an expense: by reducing losses and achieving better harvests, you'll recoup your investment in the first year!

Ginseng, elderberry, hemlock, wintergreen, wild garlic, bee balm, poplar, milkweed, sumac… In the untouched forest stands and marshes of the province abounds an unknown therapeutic panacea: the native wild plant world.
Living with the Land is a three-volume gardener's handbook in a beautiful slipcase, comprising 1,048 pages, 2,000 illustrations, and 100 chapters. This exceptional manual is for anyone, amateur or professional, who wants to create a natural and productive farm or garden.
Climate change is accelerating, biodiversity is collapsing, our model of civilization is faltering… Isn’t it time to invent together a new way of inhabiting the Earth, letting ourselves be inspired by nature?
At the Bec Hellouin Organic Farm, Perrine and Charles Hervé-Gruyer and their team strive to meet human needs while caring for all forms of life. They practice ecoculture, a new form of agriculture that mimics natural ecosystems. Scientific research has validated the results of this approach, which, thanks to simple and effective hand tools, allows them to produce vegetables and fruits of excellent taste and nutritional quality, with yields that can be ten times greater, per unit area, than those of mechanized organic farming. This abundant production is accompanied by a rapid increase in soil fertility. A micro-farm designed according to the Bec Hellouin approach constitutes a carbon sink and an oasis of biodiversity.
More than any other book to date, this practical manual covers a wide range of topics: growing vegetables and fruits, forest gardens, small-scale livestock farming, cereal crops, tools, and the design of a micro-farm in all its aspects. It is intended for anyone, amateur or professional, who wants to create a natural and productive farm or garden. It will guide beginners through their first steps and support experienced professionals for years to come.
This exceptional book proposes a way of life in harmony with the earth. It allows everyone to take concrete action for the world of tomorrow.
The organic farm of Bec Hellouin , in Normandy, has become an international reference in permaculture and ecoculture!
