About the illustrator
Daphné Brissette paints and draws black and white images with as much detail as possible. She draws inspiration from nature, its scents, its seasons, its shapes and their repetitions, its textures, and above all its sounds and silence. She tries to capture moments of raw and calm beauty, memories of a place or a lived experience.
Inspired by the profound and benevolent nature of the Gardens of the Ecumene, Quebec illustrator Daphné Brissette captured a snapshot of the sensations she experienced during a visit last summer. The fluidity of the lines and the harmony that emanates from them wonderfully illustrate the magic of the place! Treat yourself to the soul of our Gardens as perceived by this highly talented artist.

Why install a butterfly shelter? In some species, it is the adult butterflies that overwinter. In the fall, these species seek sheltered places to rest until spring.
- In nature, these butterflies prefer rocky areas, tree stumps, and piles of wood or branches. These species have also learned to use buildings, which offer excellent protection from the rain and a slightly milder temperature than outdoors. Butterflies are often seen in the autumn (October) seeking shelter near the roofs of buildings.
- Installing a butterfly shelter is not essential for the survival of these species, but it makes it easier to observe this pollinator, the butterfly, and to encourage its establishment in the garden.
- Plant a beautiful variety of flowers that attract butterflies. Browse and discover our flower seeds .
- Protect the shelter from rain by ideally installing it under the eaves of buildings or in nature; ensure that it is as protected as possible, for example, against the trunk of a large tree.
- Avoid the use of pesticides and insecticides.
- Height 8 in (20 cm); width 6 1/2 in (16.5 cm); depth 6 1/2 in (16.5 cm)
- cm); weight 2.37 lb (1.076 kg).
- Cedar shelter made in the Eastern Townships by a craftswoman who has a great concern for the environment.

With a simple and fluid writing style, Diane Mackay wonderfully conveys the desire to care for oneself and one's loved ones with herbs with multiple properties, in the form of infusions, liquid extracts, oils or ointments.
This spring, Colloïdales Publishing will release 40 Medicinal Plants for the Family Medicine Cabinet, Diane Mackay's first book on 40 medicinal plants that are easy to grow, process, and use, including 12 well-known aromatic herbs such as basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. She presents them in six sections: history, botany, gardening, uses, culinary applications (where applicable), and precautions. The book is designed as a practical guide for growing, harvesting, and processing 40 simple remedies that address most common health problems. An essential resource for building robust and natural health, the key to a healthy, free, and fulfilling life.
Diane Mackay lives with her partner, Yves Gagnon, in Saint-Didace, where they established Les Jardins du Grand-Portage. It was there that she was introduced to traditional herbalism, exploring the vast healing potential of medicinal plants. She cultivates about a hundred species, half of which she transforms into dried herbs, liquid extracts, oils, and ointments. For thirty years, she has treated those around her with her homemade products, who have witnessed their remarkable effectiveness. She also offers training and gives lectures on the subject.

Developed through Oregon's cool-climate breeding programs, the Oregon Spring tomato was designed to provide consistent harvests even when spring is late and summers remain mild. In a garden that works in harmony with the seasons, it becomes a valuable ally: a standard-type tomato, meaty and bountiful, that ripens early and gives the gardener an early sign of success.
In the garden, its compact and determined growth habit makes it a reliable plant for productive spaces: well-organized flowerbeds, small vegetable gardens, or community gardens. Its red, round to slightly flattened fruits stand out clearly against the green foliage, offering a reassuring presence throughout the summer. Adapted to regions with short summers, it naturally finds its place in a respectful cultivation approach, where one observes, understands, and then gently intervenes to support the plant rather than forcing it.
