The Fortin dry bean is an heirloom variety from Quebec, rooted in the Cap-Saint-Ignace region (Chaudière-Appalaches), where several generations of the Fortin family have carefully cultivated it. Its compact, dwarf habit makes cultivation and harvesting easy, while its long, yellow pods contain numerous beige peas marked with a black eye, typical of the black-eyed pea variety.
