Native to Europe and Asia , this aromatic perennial is as well known for its euphoric effects on cats as for its calming properties in humans. Its downy, grey-green foliage , with its camphor-like scent, and its discreet white or mauve flowers , make it a gentle and vibrant presence in the garden.

Easy to grow, catnip thrives in full sun or partial shade , in light, well-drained soil . Drought-tolerant once established, it grows quickly and can be pruned to prolong flowering.
