Catnip (catmint) - Organic
(0)
$4.49
Unit price / perNative to Europe and Asia , this aromatic perennial is as well known for its euphoric effects on cats as for its calming properties in humans. Its downy, grey-green foliage , with its camphor-like scent, and its discreet white or mauve flowers , make it a gentle and vibrant presence in the garden.
Easy to grow, catnip thrives in full sun or partial shade , in light, well-drained soil . Drought-tolerant once established, it grows quickly and can be pruned to prolong flowering. It attracts bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and ladybugs , making it a beneficial companion plant in a vegetable garden or herb garden.
Not very invasive but hardy, it integrates well along the edges of aromatic plants, dry embankments or naturalistic beds , where it brings freshness, movement and animal companionship .

In traditional herbalism, catnip is recognized for its digestive, calming, and mildly sedative properties. It is used as a hot infusion to relieve stomach aches, soothe restlessness, or promote sleep.
Its fresh or dried leaves can also be used in herbal tea blends or infused with other mild plants (lemon balm, chamomile).
On the feline side, its natural scents provide a stimulating and playful effect on the majority of cats, who appreciate it as a toy, cushion or simply in a pot in the garden.
